Dear Alli,
It seems so much has happened, and yet really, it was only one night. If this is what war is truly like, or even a portion of the stupidity and hatred that springs from it, I wish to have no part of one in my lifetime – ever.
I am now soaking in my tub, using up some of my most expensive bath salts and beads in an attempt to calm my body and my mind. I managed to find a plank of wood that would reach across my tub the full way; sanding it down and coating it with a protective material, it has become a small desk for over my tub so that I may continue to write while I attempt to relax. At this moment, it seems that wherever I am, my body is not relaxed and I cannot sit and simply write down my thoughts. But I should take this time, while my bath water is still hot, to speak of the evils of last evening…
The night started out as a really great night, getting to visit a bit with Miss Kittie, a new friend of mine from another area in Rhydin and finding out the Alenia is engaged to be married! It was very exciting at the time and it seems perhaps this male will stick it out with her and be a father to Vi. But no sooner were we starting to discuss dates, when two men sauntered into the tavern.
I tried to be polite, asking if I could get them anything to drink, even through the stench of rotting flesh that steamed off of him. Instead, the man with the voice told me he had come for my life! It was dreadfully frightening, to hear such a creature as this one say this to me. But I stood my ground, hoping that my wit would at least draw him from this violent streak and maybe hope that he just left.
It did no such good. The man seemed insistent to ruin our evening. Kept him simply talking for a time, it just wouldn't last. He first struck out at Alenia, who managed to dodge the first attack, and from there, my brain couldn't keep up with what all happened. She and I got a few jumps on him, but she was thrown at the other man, which left myself alone against the one who told us he was called Decker. The fight went on, not many details I wish to recall, but after a short time, help arrived. Miss Kittie, Miss Adara, Miss Laviera, and a wind mage who seemed close to Miss Adara came and aided us in removing the men from our tavern.
With the men gone, Miss Adara healed me as best she could, though I am still fairly sore and some of the bruises and welts are still present, including a raised line across the flat of my stomach. I am just hoping that the new few days will allow me some rest and recoperation time.
By My Hand,
